21st Cocktail Party at Home

Finding the perfect 21st theme is hard. Especially when you have the pressure of being an Event Coordinator and have the high expectations from family and friends. I had so many extravagant ideas which would have cost me a fortune and would been amazing. But on the budget I was on I was determined to  make my party look simple, sophisticated and like a million dollars. I came to a decision to create a warm, romantic orange and pink theme. Nothing too over the top. It was simple and was so me.

Everyone was impressed with my photo wall feature in the shape of a 21.
It was filled with photos of myself from when I was cute and little to now with a baby of my own.
No one had ever seen such a creation before and was a great personal touch to the evening.

The table settings gave a soft and romantic atmosphere and who can honestly resist the Eiffel tower display. I am a sucker for candles and had them splashed around the room and balcony seating area for intimate lighting. But having a cosy area with a photo album and the signing key was a great idea.

My cocktail party went for three hours until we headed out to the casino. I purposely created the atmosphere to be calm and soft to ensure it did not get to rowdy and loud at my place. So that is the reason we headed out to avoided the yaar glass making an appearance followed by the spew in the bucket.

A great tip is hiring a slushy machine for approximately $220.00 for one night.
It is much cheaper than buying bottles and bottles of alcohol for the bar area.
It also gives a different choice of drink compared to the usual champagne provided at most parties.
Everyone drank the slushy machine dry and to top it all off we had jelly shots on arrival as an appropriate welcoming for a 21st party.

Do not go over board with the cocktail food as I found people that are drinking will eat anything.
Simply throw on some party pies, sausage rolls, spinach puffs, little red sausages, bruschetta and just display it clean and neatly on the plates. I even drew 21 with tomato sauce over the party pies as an additional touch. Overall I found with the cost comparisions and research that it is much cheaper to have gathering at your home than it is to hire out a venue and if you are like me and you enjoy decorating up your home and throwing a party you wouldn't second guess having it anywhere else other than home.

PS don't forget the balloons as they are essential for any birthday party but also fun sucking in the helium.

You can not go wrong with a red sparkly dress for your 21st!
Try +Princess Polly, +Lucy in the sky and +Cactus Rose for dresses.
They are a few of my favourite on line stores.

Remember the most important thing is sharing your birthday with your friends and family.
As long as you have those special people by your side your night should be amazing.
Do not freak out over spilt milk, let your hair down and enjoy your night.
You are only 21 once!

Until next time.
